Albany, Georgia

Albany is known as "The Good Life City" and "The Artesian City". Albany is located in the southwestern part of Georgia in Dougherty County. Albany is surrounded by: Armena, Oakland and Sasser to the northwest; Palmyra, Forrester and Century to the north; Turner City, Stocks and Davis Mill to the northeast; Acree, Red Rock and Gammage to the east; Pecan City, Crestwood and Parkerville to the southeast; Radium Springs, Dewitt and Baconton to the south; Red Store Crossroads, Pretoria and Walker to the southwest; and Gillionville, Oak Hill and Cordrays Mill to the west. Major roads serving Albany include: Georgia State Route 133, Georgia State Route 234, Georgia State Route 3, Georgia State Route 300, Georgia State Route 520, Georgia State Route 91, US Route 19 and US Route 82.

Southwest Georgia Regional Airport (ABY) is a small publicly owned airport located a five minutes drive from downtown Albany. Delta Connection is the sole commercial passenger airline providing scheduled services to Atlanta. ABX Air and UPS Airlines provide cargo service to Southwest Georgia Regional.

Columbus Metropolitan Airport (CSG) is small publicly owned airport. The airport can be reached after a one-hour and fifty minutes drive from Albany. Only Delta Connection serves Columbus Metropolitan with direct flights to Atlanta.

Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) is a small public airport located a two-hours drive from Albany. Although most of the airport's traffic is general aviation there are two airlines that provide non-stop service to Atlanta. The airlines currently serving Middle Georgia Regional Airport are GeorgiaSkies and Wings Air.

Greyhound Lines and Albany Transit System serve Albany, and both offer reliable and affordable transportation within and around the city of Albany.

Albany has cold winters with temperatures averaging around forty degrees Fahrenheit and mild summers with temperatures around eighty degrees. During January Albany experiences the coldest temperatures when the thermometer measures around thirty-five degrees. During the month of July temperatures get as hot as ninety degrees.
