Columbus, Georgia is also known as "The Lowell of the South". Columbus is located in the western central part of Georgia in Muscogee County. Columbus Metropolitan Airport (CSG) is small publicly owned airport. The airport can be reached after a thirteen minutes drive from Columbus. Only Delta Connection serves Columbus Metropolitan with direct flights to Atlanta.
Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) also known as "Dannelly Field" is located about one-hour and forty-five minutes away from downtown Columbus. Some of the carrier airlines in the Montgomery Regional Airport would be Delta Connection, NWA Airlink, US Airways, Continental Express and Dayjet.

National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus is home to equipment, weapons, uniforms and military vessels used by the Confederate and Union navies in the American Civil War. The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus is the United States only museum, which unfolds the story of the two navies in the Civil War. Also containing military artifacts and art collections is the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park.
