Fall River also known as "Scholarship City" is located in the southeastern part of Massachusetts in Bristol County. Fall River is surrounded by: Somerset, Swansea, Hortonville and Rehoboth to the northwest; Collins Corner, Pottersville, Dighton and Serganset to the north; Fighting Rock Corner, Buffington Corner, Canedys Corner and Buena Vista Shores to the northeast; Hixville, Faunce Corner, Plainville and Tinkhamtown to the east; Westport Factory, Brownell Corner, Kirby Corner and South Westport to the southeast; Eagleville, Bliss Corners, Adamsville and Pottersville to the south; Tiverton, Island Park, South Portsmouth and Middletown to the southwest; and Brayton Point, Bristol, Beach Terrance and Warwick to the west. Major roads serving Fall River include: Massachusetts State Route 114, Massachusetts State Route 138, Massachusetts State Route 140, Massachusetts State Route 24, Massachusetts State Route 79, US Route 6 and Interstate Highway 195.

New Bedford Regional Airport (EWB) is public airport owned and operated by the City of New Bedford. A large portion of the airport's traffic derives from general aviation; several fixed base operators serve the airport. Cape Air is the only airline providing scheduled passenger service to New Bedford Regional with direct destinations to Nantucket.

T. F. Green Airport (PVD) is the busiest airport in the State of Rhode Island and it was the first state owned airport in the U.S. The airport can be reached after a thirty-one minutes drive from Fall River. The airport is served by numerous airlines with a multitude of direct destinations; the airlines serving T. F. Green Airport are Air Canada, Cape Air, Continental Connection, Continental Express, Delta Connection, Northwest Airlines, Northwest Airlink, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, United Express, US Airways and US Airways Express.
