Arkansas’ capital and most populated city is Little Rock.  Little Rock sits in the central part of Arkansas. Little Rock’s name comes from a small rock formation by the Arkansas River that was used as a landmark in the earlly river traffic. Little Rock is also known as The Rock and Rocktown.  Little rock has chilly winters and warm humid summers. I-40, I-30, I-430, I-440, I-530, and I-630, US 65, US 70, US 67 and US 167 are some of Little Rock’s major roads.

People who are planning to visit Little Rock might want to consider arriving at the Little Rock National Airport (LIT).  Little Rock National Airport is only fifteen minutes aways from Downtown Little Rock by car. Some of the airline carriers would include American Airlines, American Eagle, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.

Twice a day Amtrak serves the city going northbound to Chicago and southbound to San Antonio. Amtrak provides passangers with a dining car, sleeping car, coaches, and Lounge car. Central Arkansas Transit Authority is the bus system in LIttle Rock that provides the city  with routes around the city from Monday to Saturday.

Any one that likes baseball should go watch the Arkansas Travelers.  They previously played at the Ray Winder Field and now they moved to the Dickey- Stephens Park.  The Arkansas Travelers was the first team to be named after the state.  Football lovers should visit the Alltel Arena which hosts the Arkansas Twisters and the Arkansas Rim Rockers. War Memorial Stadium is the place to go to watch a nice game of football; the Arkansas High School plays their state championships in the War Memorial Stadium.  Also, the Arkansas State University sometimes plays at the War Memorial Stadium.

Little Rock is a great place for recreational outdoor activities! Some of the places in Little Rock that are great for these activities would be:Clinton Presidential Park, Turpentine Creek, Riverfront Park, Little Rock Zoo, Willow Springs Water Park, Pinnacle Mountain State Park, Lake Nixon, River Market District, Arkansas River Trail and Arkansas Arboretum.

Little Rock has many exciting places for people of all ages who enjoy visual arts and performing arts.  These places would include Wildwood Center for the Performing Arts, Robinson Center Music Hall, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Arkansas Arts Center and Aerospace Education Center.

For people who enjoy golfing in a calm, serene, and green golf course, Little Rock Arkansas is the place.  The many golfing courses in Little Rock would include: Chenal Country Club, Country Club of Little Rock, Eagle Hill Golf & Athletic Club, Hindman Golf Course, Pleasant Valley Country Club, The First Tee of Central Arkansas, Rebsamen Park Golf Course, War Memorial Golf Course and Western Hills Country Club.
