Mobile, Alabama

Mobile is located in the southwestern corner of Alabama.  Mobile is the only seaport in Alabama, and it is the tenth largest in the United States.  Most of Mobile’s communities are located along the Mobile River and Mobile Bay.  Some of Mobile’s major roads would be: I-10, I-65, US Highway 90, US Highway 45, US Highway 98, US Highway 43 and US Highway 31.  Mobile is known for its organized community, they have the oldest organized Carnival celebrations in the United States.

Mobilians are known to have the oldest Carnival celebration in America since 1703.  This celebration for some starts as early as November with exclusive parties, then a New Year’s Eve ball, others however, wait until January 6.  They have parades with floats and horseback ridding, king cake parties and masquerade parties.  In the parades they give gifts to everyone, like candies, small toys, plastic beads, footballs, Frisbees, and many more small gifts. Usually a major parade is done each day during the last two weeks before Mardi Gras and end in the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday.  There traditional colors are gold, green and purple.  Anyone who enjoys parties and parades will enjoy this celebration.

Mobile Regional Airport is around thirty minutes from the downtown Mobile, Alabama.
