Montgomery is the capital of Alabama, it is also known as “The Gump, Gump town, Monkey town, and The Capital City”.  Montgomery, Alabama is very well known for its African- American Civil Rights Movements, the Montgomery Bus Boycott campaign and the Selma to Montgomery marches.  Montgomery is located in the southeast center of Alabama.  Some of Montgomery’s major roads would include: I - 65, I – 85, State Route 152, US Highway 31, US Highway 331, US Highway 82, US Highway 80 and US Highway 231.

For people planning on visiting Montgomery, Alabama, Montgomery Regional Airport (“Dannelly Field”) would be the most convenient Airport.  Montgomery Regional Airport is less than twenty minutes away from downtown Montgomery.  Some of the carrier airlines in the Montgomery Regional Airport would be Delta Connection, NWA Airlink, US Airways, Continental Express and Dayjet.  For a nice ride around the town, Montgomery Area Transit System (MATS) is one of the choices in Montgomery, Alabama.  MATS offer their services from Monday to Friday, 5:00AM to 9:30PM.  From Monday to Friday at 11:00AM until 2:00PM there is a Lunch Trolley Express that rides around Downtown Montgomery and gives everyone a free ride.

For an exciting place to see a live baseball game, Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium is the place to go.  The Montgomery Biscuits baseball team plays at the Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.  Not only do the Montgomery Biscuits play there but the Montgomery Riverwalk also hosts the NCAA Division II National Baseball Championship.  Previously this championship was hosted in the Paterson Field.  For golf tournaments the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is the place to go; the Navistar LPGA Classic women’s golf is hosted in the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.  The Cramton Bowl hosts the football games and the Joe L. Reed Acadome hosts the basketball games. 

People planning on attending a university or college in Alabama, might want to consider any of Montgomery’s universities or colleges.  Alabama State University is a historical black university and is located about five minutes away from Downtown Montgomery by car.  Auburn University is also another option; it is around fifteen minutes away from Downtown Montgomery by car. Other options would be the following private colleges: Huntingdon College and Faulkner University.
