Salinas, California, US

Salinas is located in the western southern part of California in Monterey County.  Salinas is well known as America’s Salad Bowl because it produces a variety of fruits and vegetables including strawberries, watermelons, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, carrots and cabbages.  The mild climate plays a great part in Salina’s rich agricultural industry, having warm summers with temperatures in the 70’s and cool winters with temperatures in the 60’s. Salinas Municipal Airport (SNS) is located around seven minutes away from downtown Salinas by car and is mostly used for general aviation.

Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY) is located around twenty-nine minutes away from downtown Salinas by car. Airline carriers serving Monterey Peninsula Airport include: Allegiant Air, American Eagle, United Express and US Airways Express.

The California Rodeo Salinas is the most popular rodeo in California and is also the largest.  Big Week takes place on every third week of July at California Rodeo Salinas, during this week cowboys and fans admire traditional rodeo competitions including bull riding.
